Four ways flatknit cuts waste

Sustainability at Seamerge isn't a separate initiative — it's a direct result of how flatknit construction works, backed by the certifications and sourcing choices we make around it.

01

Fully-fashioned, not cut-and-sew

Our Shima Seiki flatknit machines shape each panel — or an entire garment — directly on the needle bed, so there's no fabric roll to cut and no off-cuts left behind.

02

Certified fibre processing

Our GOTS certification covers the responsible processing of organic cotton and other organic fibres, against recognised ecological and social criteria.

03

Yarn recovery and recycling

Leftover yarn from development and sampling is reused wherever possible, and recycled-fibre blends are available as a standing option for buyers.

04

Made-to-order manufacturing

We knit to confirmed order quantities rather than speculative stock, which keeps overproduction and unsold deadstock out of the equation entirely.

Why flatknit wastes almost nothing

Flatknit Garment Panels

Each panel is knit to its exact final shape on the machine — nothing is trimmed away afterward.

With no cutting tables in the process, there's virtually no fabric off-cut to dispose of.

Production runs are knit to order, so we avoid the overproduction that leads to unsold stock.

Yarn left over from sampling and development is fed back into future runs rather than discarded.

Certified. Auditable. Built to last.

Zero-Waste Knitting

Fully-fashioned construction means garments are shaped on the machine, not cut from rolled fabric.
